EPK - messy mammals
Messy Mammals is formed of two homie sapiens - Asha Trips (vocals, bass, synths) & Fionn Brewer (guitars, production, synths, backing vocals). Often praised for their original and uplifting sound and energy, they create warpy, warm and colourful pop/electronica.
Throughout 2016 and 2017, Asha & Fionn have been b-u-s-y; they released an album, as well as several separate single-only tracks, and a few videos too. In May 2017 they dropped "Wish I'd Said", which immediately garnered radio play along the east coast. The track was also picked up by Triple J, with Linda Marigliano giving it a spin on "Good Nights", and Unearthed Radio giving it lots of love. The band also did gigs in London, Warrang (Sydney) and - most especially - their current hometown Narrm (Melbourne), where the gigs have been getting busier and busier as the year closes out.
On 14th December 2017, Messy Mammals dropped their latest project: "Connection Lost!", a 3-track EP which explores experiences of breakdowns in connections between people/and ourselves. Through this work, Fionn & Asha have been streamlining/ growing/ embracing & levelling up their sound, taking inspiration from a diverse range of artists from Sade to Stereolab.
Asha & Fionn plan to finish up the year with a cheeky performance at Woodford Festival in QLD; and, on their return to VIC in January, a residency at the Yarra Hotel with a beautiful bunch of supporting artists. Like mammals do, these two keep growing, moving and evolving.
